Night walk to cactus canyon

After an inspiring dip into Robert MacFarlanes, ‘The wild places’, I left a hot bath and dove into the night for a solo walk to the far end of Sellicks Beach. Here hides the entrance to Cactus Canyon which reaches back in-land to the foothills. As I neared it the street lights receded, and as my eyes adjusted I began to fathom the dark forms of the beach scape. After meditating on the endlessness of waves I bivvied on the mattress like grass above the stones and watched the clouds cover up the stars.
The morning greeted me with calm and warmth and on the return walk I enjoyed seeing the beach unclothed from the nights cloak.
